So what sites do people use in place of FB? I keep reading about #Diaspora. Any good? At this point, I'm only there, honestly, to post trivia every weekend. It used to also be for keeping up with friends from yesteryear, but I just don't care about that any longer.
@freemo Oooh. I did know it was federated, but didn't realize that meant it was all the same network. I guess I read federated as more like a protocol or a type, meaning how it works (like federated vs local). Thanks!

@theonetotheleft Fedirationt akes place across any number of protocols. The two most common (though there are others) are OStatus and ActivityPub.
This server handles multiple protocols (including those two). Diaspora however is JUST OStatus I think.

@theonetotheleft Diaspora is actually part of QOTO's federated network. You probably already know this unless your new but you can follow and be followed from/to diaspora accounts from here.
