I'm reading “The last Chairlift,” the latest novel by John #Irving. Somewhere in the middle (chapter 37) there is a scene when in the early 1980s, the narrator together with his stepdad Elliot, who is then a transgender woman, visits a dying (AIDS) former lover of Elliot—Charlie. Charlie's wife is miserable, his nurse Peter is homophobic and full of hate.
I'm pretty sure I *saw* this scene in a movie years ago, but which one and when? Did Irving borrow from himself or someone else?

While I've argued against popular criticisms of A Mind Forever Voyaging, some legitimate issues with its political critique remain.

Therefore, it is time to acknowledge shortcomings in Steve Meretzky's dystopic vision, even if it is one of my all-time favorite games.

Something from my #Infocom collection: the first commercially sold release of #Zork, published in 1980 for the #TRS80 and sold exclusively at Radio Shack. Only 1500 of these were ever sold.

These, and the more popular #AppleII release in 1981 are commonly referred to as "Barbarian" Zork today, since the cover artwork was redesigned for the later blister packs and grey boxes, which brought mass appeal to text adventure games.
