@alex In defence of the first one it's often easier to read.
@wjmaggos Yeah ideally we would all agree to nominate justices who will uphold the constitution. But no one is really arguing about that now
@alex i didnt get that impression at all
@Demosthenes @randomthoughts@mstdn.social Real median household income rose 6.8% from 2018 to 2019 and poverty rates were at a historic low before the pandemic.
"The 2019 poverty rate of 10.5 percent is the lowest rate observed since estimates were initially published in 1959"
I haven't seen data for what you're saying about the middle class.

@Demosthenes @randomthoughts@mstdn.social declining quality of life for the lower and middle classes is just not true
@wjmaggos i agree
@wjmaggos McConnell's argument wasnt that it was too close to an election. It was that when the senate and president are opposed the choice goes to the people in the next election
@wjmaggos yeah they can. The Senate holds the exclusive power to confirm SCOTUS nominees. The president is not entitled to a nominee
@wjmaggos the senate can choose to confirm or not confirm any nominee they want. Thats the norm. He was a dick about it but nothing more
@wjmaggos nah. It'd be a dick move but he didn't violate the constitution
@Demosthenes I mean I want all constitutionalist judges to take all of this congressionally-delegated power away from the president and restore the bill of rights
@Demosthenes what if they appoint a moderate appointee
@freemo we should all just start using postfix notation. It makes computing easier
@freemo ah
@freemo am I missing something?
