At the beginning of their regime in 2021, Taliban claimed they will guarantee women’s rights “under the limits of Islam.” But as a matter of fact they have made life a living hell for women in Afghanistan. The most recent atrocity is banning them from attaining university education.

As a Muslim woman, I am appalled at these atrocities against women and that too in the name of Islam. Let me tell you about the guarantees Islam makes for women, and you’ll see how Taliban the so called defenders of Islam have no idea what Islam actually teaches.

So where did their idea or interpretation of Islam come from ?
This misogynist interpretation of Islam has been around for more than a century through #Wahhabism and #Salafism. There are tens of millions of Muslim fundamentalists across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Arabian peninsula, and parts of Africa, that accept these extremist teachings.

So why is it that moderte followers of religion never seem to really speak out vocally against the extream forms of their religion?
This seems to be happening across different religions, not just Islam.
Moderates are the best people in the world. Yet ironically also the problem, because they do not speak loudly enough, often enough, or take over social movements. This has been the Achilles heel of all human civilization since the beginning. Moderates often get wiped out in political party primaries, they don't fill the newsfeeds of social media, and they don't create many new mosques, synagogues, or churches.
