This Massive Wall of Galaxies Is Lurking Beyond the Milky Way

Cosmographers’ goal is to map out the observable universe, and from their findings we can not only learn more about the structures that make up everything we can see, we also gain insight into the things we cannot see!

That is really cool, we still have so much more to learn about what is really out there and what is driving all these cosmic forces.

@zleap Thanks for your interest Paul! Yes indeed it's fascinating stuff to study. If you are interested by more posts on results from our cosmicflows research program, you can click on the hashtags #laniakea #dipolerepeller #southpolewall

How do I follow a specific hash tag ? or do I just add to the follow list in my profile.

@zleap @pomarede For me on my mastodon ios app, I can see a follow button when i clicked on a hashtag. Here is a screenshot.

@kongakong @pomarede

Thanks

@freemo I don't seem to be seeing this, if I click on a hashtag I just see more posts with the tag.

I will keep trying.

@zleap

thats because QOTO had hashtag following feature years before vanilla mastodon. So we do it a bit differently (and with some extra features).. to follow hashtags its in your account preferences.

@kongakong @pomarede

@zleap Well when I clisk on a hashtag like #astronomy, there appears a "Follow hashtag" next to the "Back" button on the upper right hand side of the feed. It works well, my feed keeps being updated with recent post harboring this hashtag. Hope that helps! Cheers, Daniel

@pomarede @zleap some mobile apps don’t seem to have the ability to follow hashtags so I use the web app

@bgrinter @zleap Hello Brian, on my side I have a quite old smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S5 from 2014) and it works fine: the Mastodon App offers this feature of following hashtags. I find Mastodon to be fantastic to work with. Cheers, Daniel

@pomarede @zleap I’m using the iOS Toot! App which is very good but can’t see how to follow hashtags.

I should ask but I’m looking forward to the new @ivory app

@bgrinter @pomarede @ivory

I know this is not a solution per se, what happens if you log in to the website, follow the hashtags. Does the app still follow properly?
