@lednabwm All depictions of god are male when we know that the female is smarter, works just as hard as the male, raises the next generation, and feeds the whole lot.

I am sure at least one of the Hindu gods was female (Vishnu perhaps)

@zleap @lednabwm @trainman Vishnu is generally male, but Hindu gods often have male and female avatars, so his female aspect is Mohini. Shakti and Kali are probably the most revered goddesses in the Hindu pantheon.

For Sikhs, God is genderless, and Sikh names are traditionally agender, as well.

Thanks for this, i find it fascinating even though I am not religious, it is good to be aware of cultural differences.

I have heard of Kali (oddly via Temple of doom film)

So a question on that, is the religion in that Hindu or Sikh?

@zleap @lednabwm @trainman ToD nominally depicts Hinduism, albeit an extremely lurid, bastardized version. Sikhism is a monotheistic religion, so in English they'll usually just say "God", and in Punjabi they may use honorifics analogous to "The Lord", "The Creator", etc. It's a religion specific to Punjabi ethnicity, though there are a number of white converts in the US.
