If you update your device - the vendor fucks you with some bullshit "we've updated our terms and services"
the vendors are under some dillusion everything needs to be connected to the internet and or needs AI. But yeah, also about getting you to buy in to their services.

I've wanted to do something like a skit where a guy is bound and gagged and in walks the torturer with this enormous cart of torture implements, and then everything else is adapted from Facebook ToS:
"We want your stay at Torture Industries to be as pleasant and enjoyable as possible!"
"Your comfort is our highest priority! We have a wide selection of comfort settings for you to choose from, such as the rectal corkscrew and fingernail popper!"
@zleap Not exactly "dillusion" as much as trying to appeal to the "dumb masses"...
They know very well it doesn't need to be but it's what appeals to the dumb masses (and thus sells well) so they will add it.
If it also means they can more easily add planned obsolescence? Even better!
These vendors know very well what they are doing.
