Woa, all data across all QOTO services is approaching 10 TB! damn... luckily we have nearly infinite storage space.

@freemo dang if you don’t mind me asking. How much space is an average account or the range of them?

@Co I dont know but it isnt based on accounts. the server stores all the federated data from all servers it sees (as do all mastodon servers).. so its literally a copy of the entire fediverse (or near to it) since the server came up.

@freemo oh ok that makes sense. What’s it like running a server?

@Co depends on your level of expiernce. I coded mine up to be almost effortless to manage. I think for most it would be a great deal of work though

@freemo what language is yours in?

@Co its many different components in different languages.. shell script, docker, docker-compose are the three main frameworks that bring it all together. I am using docker swarm to manage the systems and docker-machine to bring instances up as needed.

@freemo do you say I should learn docker stuff.... I already know a good bit a of shell (I use arch so I hopefully should know some at least)

@Co If you do any level of system admining or programming I'd highly recommend it, yes.
