My American friends: In Canada I had prostate surgery, radiation treatment, knee replacement, physiotherapy, numerous X-rays, scans, tests, specialist appts, hospital stays, & drugs. Cost to me total: under $1,000, mostly for travel, some partial payment for drugs, & parking. That's what universal not-for-profit healthcare offers.
Where I live in the Bronx about 40 percent of families use SNAP. But, people are very embarrassed about it.
Every person I know who uses SNAP works more hours than I do OR they are very old or sick.
We are setting up a pantry in the laundry room, but it's not the same. Nobody wants the strange canned food that I don't want. It's not the same as $40 you can spend on the food you really need.
Yes, the billionaires want the economy to crash so they can buy up assets cheap. Yes, a lot of these people are so stupid they think we will either fall in line if they starve us, or riot so they can justify a hard nationwide crackdown.
But that's the enabler class. Don't forget the mad king really is just mad.
Between the fact that all of them-- even the ones not in dementia-- are badly misreading our national character, and the fact that they are prostrate before the mad king...
