@Liberonscien It was in a study i read a while back and honestly cant remember the details. I found it hiding on my system from when I shared it on facebook a while back.
@freemo @Liberonscien most interesting. Particularly that the blue and yellow respond to the treatment more effectively than the red.
Would also be interested to see how it goes with non-primary colours and patterns. Certain the image selected is one which lends itself well to the experiment.
There are some non-primary colors used int he image as well.
I do find it interesting that red behaves differently, though not surprising. Our eyes do tend to notice red more strongly than other colors.

It's common in image compression to down-sample or dither color, as it doesn't affect our perception much. This seems like an exaggeration of that. The things our eyes would to to keep us sane are just insane.
