AI + Ethics Curriculum for Middle School
from the MIT Media Lab
"This project seeks to develop an open source curriculum for middle school students on the topic of artificial intelligence. Through a series of lessons and activities, students learn technical concepts—such as how to train a simple classifier—and the ethical implications those technical concepts entail, such as algorithmic bias."

@MrsDi @edutooters thanks for sharing this resource! I’m troubled by the fact that it’s translated into some other languages but not translated into Spanish, when that’s the second most common language in the United States… since MIT is US based I would have hoped they would have that as a priority
@MrsDi @edutooters thanks for sharing this!!

Ooo... This is very interesting and perfect timing: yesterday I was wondering if I should (/could) teach a unit on AI with my Middle School kids. Seems like a timely topic.
AI is often thought of as a computer science topic, so I love that there is an ethical component to this unit. Anyone know of any other 'social studies' resources?
@Richard @edutooters
Check out the #AI Snapshots curriculum here. There is a section just for #socialstudies

Thank you! Can't wait to dive in.

@Richard @MrsDi @edutooters I’ve been talking with my media literacy #Mediazkit middle school students about AI quite a bit the past few years. I have a variety of related links on our “Wonder Links” page. Just search on the page for “AI” https://lessons.wesfryer.com/wonder-links #EduTooter

Cool! I look forward to exploring it all :)
Thanks for sharing
@MrsDi @Richard @edutooters Please let me know if you have any questions! :-) I love "Sparking Student Curiosity with Wonder Links" & shared a presentation about that this past semester: https://wiki.wesfryer.com/Home/handouts/wonder-links

Thank you! This looks like a good resource, and an important one, to help explore ethics in the age of AI.
