Does anyone use a desktop Mastodon client on #Linux?
I'm trying #Whalebird. It has a couple nice features: keyboard navigation mainly (though even that's a bit clunky), and multi-account management. But it feels quite heavy - #Electron to blame maybe - and is pretty limited in customization options.
@subramani
Visually #tootle looks beautiful, a very well put-together design.
Seems like there's no keyboard navigation though? Not even to the browser level of page-down or arrow keys.
I can see myself using it for an image-focused account, for eg. to follow #pixelfed posts. Mouse-only interaction will be fine for that, and the aesthetic of the program will enhance the visual experience.
@digital_carver What you said is true. Not a keyboard-friendly client. As well doesn't look like frequently updated. I don't know if it is catching up with new feature sets.
@digital_carver I've been looking for some can anyone recommend?
@digital_carver I saw this morning this one: https://github.com/RasmusLindroth/tut haven't tried it yet
@digital_carver electron is a bloatware 😂
@abhi_jl
I'd seen a lot of complaints about it and always thought "surely it can't be that bad, they must be exaggerating"... I owe an apology to all of those people now 😀
@digital_carver
For simply scrolling through my timelines with multiple accounts i use Tokodon. It is written in C++/Qt and QML/Kirigami.

@digital_carver
Try 'Tootle' it's pretty small. I think most distributions carry it in their repo - I know Debian does.
@marathon0
Thanks. Is it mouse-only? I just replied to someone else about it: https://qoto.org/@digital_carver/109263018291635787
@digital_carver I'm not sure what you mean, but it's a GUI client, so a point 'n click interface.
@marathon0
I explained in the linked comment, Tootle seems to ignore even basic keyboard commands like arrow keys and pageup/pagedown. But it's really beautifully designed, so I hope it gets some keyboard support in the future, it'll be favourite client then.
@digital_carver If you're looking for a terminal based client I can recommend two that I've used. Both Toot and Tutt are tui clients. Tut has vim keybindings.
@digital_carver Yep I use tootle. https://github.com/bleakgrey/tootle
