I just discovered that we' ve got a Discourse attached to qoto. Amazing! In a recent chat I heard about a friend trying to build a ActivityPub-based forum to integrate with Mastodon, but qoto's approach seems to be easier. An integrated account system, yet separated pages -- and not organized by a timeline.
@2ck @fakemoewbot Unfortunately, currently each service does require an account creation, like 2ck mentioned. WE recommend using the same name as in the mastodon instance.
But the Discourse Forum is WAY nicer in many ways compared to the default Mastodon experience. Why?
* EDIT posts, whenever you like.
* Text Formatting options!!!
* Full Support for MarkDown language formatting.
* Insert Images in-line, where they belong, so they relate to the text better.
And many more. I like it a lot, and post copies of my personal Blog there, which are Almost Identical to the Blog pages; and add Comments which the Write.as blog platform I use doesn't support yet.
@fakemoewbot Not just that we have a ton of other services attached.. Gitlab, Peertube, Nextcloud, Funkwhale.. most of which federate (except gitlab)
@fakemoewbot the account system is integrated? I made a new acct for the discourse instance.
