Got stung by a bee for the first time in years. I hope it wasnt the little guy I saved yesterday. I'm sure he didnt mean to sting me. Was my fault for not watching where I pot my arm.

@freemo I assume you are talking about honey bee. If the queen lays a fertilized egg it will be female. Her sterility is based on pheromones and the fact that she will have never had a mating flight, and her diet. Unfertilized eggs will make male (drones) which will not have a stinger. So, if she stung you, she is a she.

@freemo when the colony goes queen-less for some reason and her pheromones are not present to inhibit it, you can get a situation were a "worker" will begin laying eggs. It is a bad situation and difficult to correct.
