@realcaseyrollins When was the last time someone got surgery for the purpose of cosplaying? This seems rather ignrant and borderline hateful.

@realcaseyrollins

Well borderline, yea.

Telling someone who goes through surgery and a lot of ridicule daily to help address painful identity problems that they are "just dressing up" or engaging in "cosplay" would be an extremely hurtful thing for any transperson to hear.

@freemo Fair enough.

(For the record, I was only referring to those who haven't undergone any surgery or anything, but dress up as the opposite gender.)

I'm not trying to be dismissive of trans people, (this seems to be your interpretation) but merely state the fact that wearing a dress does not turn a man into a woman.

Frankly, with all due respect, if you follow my posts and replies, you should know better than consider me hateful of trans people.

@realcaseyrollins In that case your post could have used those details.

Generally I wouldnt consider someone who only wears a dress as "transitioning", but I also dont find it important enough to give them a hard time if they use the word to refer to themselves. Its mostly just not an issue worth creating drama over for me.

But your view is in line with how some trans people feel as well, that people who havent undergone surgery or hormone therapy arent trans by definition.
