@realcaseyrollins When was the last time someone got surgery for the purpose of cosplaying? This seems rather ignrant and borderline hateful.
@freemo Hateful? How so?
Well borderline, yea.
Telling someone who goes through surgery and a lot of ridicule daily to help address painful identity problems that they are "just dressing up" or engaging in "cosplay" would be an extremely hurtful thing for any transperson to hear.
@realcaseyrollins And sorry I misunderstood. Like I said it was the first post that came across as *borderline* hateful. I'm glad you clarified what you meant. I think the original post just left out some important details then.
@freemo My beliefs on this topic are quite nuanced, and different aspects of my opinions have triggered people on those who don't view trans people favorably too (https://social.quodverum.com/@shortbus/103466334737055998).
To me, toeing the line between loving trans people (as everyone should) and being truthful has been proving difficult, and I still have much to learn.
@realcaseyrollins Its a delicate line to toe. Fromt he christian angle of it all I have no issue with someone saying "my religion doesnt allow me to be gay/trans/etc" or if they think they might go to hell for it. Though it would be an issue if someone says "my rreligion doesnt allow YOU to be trans" or if someone felt the need to tell a trans person they were going to hell.
So far it seems to be a line youve walked. I have never seen you attack a trans person though you have admited that it is considered a sin to you according to religion. I think that is an acceptable expression even if i dont agree with it.
@freemo Yes, it did. Next time I should make it clearer who I am referring to.
