The Very FIRST #Android phone -- was developed before Apple's 2007 iPhone appeared. Consumer reaction to that made Google ABANDON this design, start from scratch, touch screen keyboard. Like #Apple. #IT #History #Vintage #Computing #Retro #xp

The first Android phone wasn't the HTC G1—it was this weird Google prototype, and I used one https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/05/24/android-was-born-on-this-weird-old-pro…

@design_RG I still despise the virtual keyboard... I wish they had slide out physical keyboards.
@freemo We can blame Apple for that. It was an easier option for them, less complex than the solutions others adopted at the time.
I absolutely loved my Palm!!
Sliding keyboard like you mentioned. And the UI design and implementation of WebOS --- runs circles about iOS and Android, the only options left. SUCKS.
@design_RG I recently found one of my old palms.. man I miss those days of the black and whide PDAs
@design_RG I was actually the developer on a project called WebOS that predates the WebOS you are refering to... Back when Palm moved to WebOS everything thought I wrote it (I didnt) :)
If you know the old website freewebs (later just called webs) it has roots from that company which I had worked at and am well connected to.. but no connection to palm pilot company.
