@aut@sideslip.social @nova Yeah, I think certain folks (notably the mastodon.technology admins) didn't like that qoto doesn't usually do full instance bans, particularly for certain reasons, and banned qoto for that reason, not because it actually affects any of the servers who refuse to federate with them.
It's not like federating with qoto brings in posts from other instances they federate with, especially not ones that are actually banned.
As they said, if you block an instance and someone from another instance shares from that instance, then you cant see that boost anyway. So the argument has always been moot and self defeating.
Moreover, any "bad content" wouldnt get shared in the first place since our instance is made up of good actors who dont promote content that is contrary to that.
@freemo The reason for confusion might be that if instance X blocks _your instance_, then you can still see boosts of content from instance X (as long as the booster is on an instance that doesn't block yours/isn't blocked by yours), as opposed to when the block is in the opposite direction. @pganssle @aut@sideslip.social @nova
@freemo Indeed, you were right. Thanks. @pganssle @aut@sideslip.social @nova
