Does anyone know of a well-maintained, knowledge-focused Mastodon instance, large enough to have interesting local content? Say, 20,000-50,000 users?

Fair. Obviously QOTO is STEM, so we arent limited to tech. In fact we probably have more people in the "S" category than the "TEM" category.
That said there are tons of nice knowledge based instances depending on what your after... for tech you have fosstodon which I think is pretty large.
@freemo @trinsec Looking for opinions and votes of confidence, curious about what people have found. Interested in the other sciences outside tech, plus history, art, public policy, etc. Thought I'd see what sort of replies came back.
