Looking at the amount of money spent to win elections and at the result of polling the public (“reinstate Trump anyone?”) “on the spur of the moment” (vox populi, vox dei?) I would like to remind us all that there still is a forgotten, but classic alternative out there, which according to Aristotle is the only, truly democratic one:
»Bluesky lacks the one federated feature that is absolutely necessary for me to trust it: the ability to leave Bluesky and go to another host and continue to talk to the people I've entered into community with there. While there are many independently maintained servers that provide services to Bluesky and its users, there is only one Bluesky server. A federation of multiple servers, each a peer to the other, has been on Bluesky's roadmap for as long as I've been following it, but they haven't (yet) delivered it.
…
So long as Bluesky can be a trap, I won't let myself be tempted. My rule – I don't join a service that I can't leave without switching costs – is my Ulysses Pact, and it's keeping me safe from danger I've sailed into too many times before.«

Frustrierend. Was sagt meine Piraten-Bubble dazu?
>Your frustration is completely understandable, especially given the stringent data protection standards expected in Europe under the GDPR compared to the more flexible approach in the United States. The iCloud terms indeed illustrate a number of potential pitfalls for data privacy and user control, which can feel incompatible with the high expectations set by European privacy norms.
>
>For European users, it’s troubling that:
> • Data access and sharing permissions are fairly broad and ambiguous, allowing Apple extensive discretion to access and disclose data for legal or security reasons, often without clear definitions or user control.
> • Data sovereignty isn’t explicitly assured, meaning it’s unclear where the data might be stored or processed, which can lead to legal risks if data is transferred to non-compliant jurisdictions.
> • Limited user recourse in case of data loss or breaches shifts most of the risk to the user, who is expected to independently back up everything, undermining trust in Apple as a secure data custodian.
>
>Given Apple’s reliance on U.S. jurisdiction and data practices that prioritize compliance with U.S. legal demands, Europeans seeking greater privacy assurances may find these terms frustratingly inadequate. In many cases, European alternatives or services that offer better data sovereignty and privacy controls might be a more attractive option.
>
>While Apple has made strides with some privacy features, these terms suggest that trusting sensitive data to iCloud may indeed be a tough choice for anyone prioritizing European-style data protection.

Nazis do not read
If the Nazis wear blue and white, the guy in the back will be handing over his club. 😬
110 years ago, a soldier named Harry Colebourn brought his pet bear with him to where he was stationed in England.
Harry named the little cub “Winnipeg” after his hometown.
Harry received news that he would be shipped to France, so he made arrangements to keep "Winnie" in the London Zoo.
Winnie captured the hearts of A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin. Christopher added “Pooh” to Winnie’s name after his pet swan named Pooh.
Winnie the Pooh was published in 1926.
