@sun some schizoid autists made a detailed analysis of his "problematic" opinions on the premise that he hasn't atoned for his sins

@newt While rms sports certain problematic views on sex (mostly out of ignorance, I assume), I see that a lot of his quotes there are grossly and deliberately misinterpreted by people with very poor reading comprehension skills.

Why do they hate him so much, anyway? Why do they find him so dangerous?

@sun

@josemanuel @newt @sun i found that most of his "problematic" posts aren't problematic if one reads it literally.

he is smeared with accusations based on his speech. i yet have to see evidence of bad conduct. they have nothing so they have to twist words.

> Why do they hate him so much, anyway? Why do they find him so dangerous?

i have asked this myself today. this is the 3.(?) big-effort attempt to cancel RMS and the FSF.

who wants them gone so bad, and why?

>While rms sports certain problematic views on sex (mostly out of ignorance, I assume)

In half of Europe, age of consent is between 14 and 16. I can have sex with a 14yo if I want to and it would be 100% legal.

>I see that a lot of his quotes there are grossly and deliberately misinterpreted by people with very poor reading comprehension skills.

The man with poor writing skills meets retards with poor reading skills. What could possibly go wrong?

>Why do they hate him so much, anyway?

Someone wants to take over GNU and/or FSF, I presume.
@josemanuel @newt they covet his organization because they haven't been able to hollow it out from the inside as long as he's been in charge.

@sun But why even bother? It's not as influential as it once was. Even the Linux kernel is being rewritten in Rust and leaving behind all the C graybeards.

Stallmanites (and I take that to mean “those who share Stallman's views on free software,” not just followers of rms himself) are a minority now. We're slowly losing the battle. Or so it seems to me.

I feel like we're becoming like those people who program for the Z80 or the 6502. They really know their machines inside and out. I look at them and say: “That's so cool!,” but then I think: “Once they're gone, who will follow?”

Not, it's not. Also, the C greybeards don't even care that much.

The battle you refer to didn't even happen, because GNU was never destined to succeed. Their ideology is self-defeating and assumes that everyone will just magically play by their rules and forfeit any ambition. Humans don't work this way.
