PSA: It is currently pawpaw season. I found out about these things a few months ago and ordered some from Earthy Delights, and they are delicious!
I'm really sad that they are only available for a few weeks each year.
@pganssle
What's it taste like?
@lucifargundam Kind of like a tropical fruit custard, or somewhat like creme bruleé.
When eaten slightly underripe it tastes a lot like a persimmon to me.
@pganssle Pawpaw has a decent popularity in Louisville. People sell jams and breads made with it at fairs in the fall.

> Kentucky State University (KSU) has the only full-time pawpaw research program in the world; it was started in 1990 with the aim of developing pawpaw as a new tree-fruit crop for Kentucky.
Looks like they are temporarily out of stock: https://earthy.com/products/fresh-pawpaws-from-earthy-delights
