Dad: Son, it's time we told you. You were adopted.
Son: I knew it! I want to meet my biological parents.
Dad: Oh, no, we're your biological parents. The new ones will be here to pick you up any minute now. Go pack.
@rdaily OMG!
@rdaily There is often a very dark twist to your humor. That makes it hilarious to me. And I'm not ashamed of myself.
@kentborg The extra twist on this one is I was abandoned by my parents and adopted by my paternal grandparents. My parents later got back together and had two more kids, which they raised along with an older half sister. I was the odd one out.
@rdaily Assuming you aren't pulling my leg…
Jesus :bleeping: Christ.
<ahem>
I've long thought best humor has truth to it. Usually part of what makes a good joke work is that truth. Longer delay than usual on that appreciation in this case.
Hamlet has not only quite the body count, but jokes, too.
I'll try to quit scolding you for being cynical, ya got an excuse or two, even though I still don't think it's good for you.
I don't know if you do hugs, but I wish I could give you one.
@rdaily I read the adoption toot to my wife, she laughed heartily!
I read the extra twist…she said paternal grandparents can be good.
(During the pandemic we ourselves landed, unscheduled, in a very tricky paternal grandparent-ish roll. In fact I gotta go to bed so I can get up early in service of that project.)
@rdaily Brutal, lol.
