I've been going through [The Linux command line](https://bookwyrm.social/book/28551) with the kids for our computer class. I'm struggling to find some real-world projects for them to apply their knowledge. I think I need to stop touching their computers. Things will break eventually, and they'll have to fix it.
My hope is that they don't just stop using it when it breaks. You can lead a horse to water...
@thalweg home-schooling? kids will be interested in what they're interested in. I know when I was younger, I tried to get my friend as interested in learning C++ as I was: he just couldn't care less 🤷
@2ck Yes, homeschooling. I hear you. Teaching some subjects are like pulling teeth 😬. That's always a sign that it isn't time yet.
They're really into this class, but I don't think they're going to retain the knowledge because they don't use it outside of the class. Hopefully exposing them to the material will be enough to give them the option to dive back in at some point if they want/need to.
@barefootstache That is a really good idea. I will have to think about how I can incorporate some of that.
