Well remains to be seen if they did anything stupid.. Like if they actually stole the diary, then yea, they could face some real trouble I suppose. But they also could be innocent. Who know, the evidence isnt exactly public.

I speaking in general terms- not directly targeting this particular circumstance.
The one thing that will never surprise me is when people do stupid things... I am more surprised when they do something intelligent.

-i use paper towel tubes as bookends for my cramped bookshelves that have lip-like tr(normal ends don't fit)
-i rinse out my recyclable containers before tossing them
-I actively look for ways to more efficiently live daily life without encumbering it.

thats responsible, clever maybe if you were having stink issues and doing this life hacked your previous issue.(if that seems stupid consider any clever hack from the perspective of a higher intelligence.)

that is a state of mind that potentially leads you to do clever things.
I'm not sure I'd use the word clever, unless your british as it would fit the way they use the word clever. But I would call them good things that you do.
