@waltercool I need to add some of the subdoains to my /etc/hosts file

Just reinstalled my system so slowly getting backup.

But yes just block them

@zleap That's not blocking them, is just avoiding them to install cookies or storage at your computer.

Doing that, you are kinda a new user to them each time.

@waltercool so i need to use [*].google.com is that in my hosts file

before i had something like

www.facebook.com 0.0.0.0

I need to double check so I can put the settings back

@zleap That's not a /etc/hosts file config... if you do that, you won't be able to open any youtube video. If that's what you want it's fine.

My block is made at Brave Browser level.

@waltercool

I will have a look, i know before i was blocking facebook completely (as in it failed to even load / connect) which is what I want, more interested in stopping either facebook or google tracking me as much as that is possible.

@waltercool @zleap i dont think etc hosts supports wildcard sadly, this would be ideal. you need some cursed DNS proxy for that

@zleap They're warning you that privacy is not allowed.

@valleyforge I will try and share that screenshot further too the ore we share the better .

@zleap
Funny how duckduckgo warns you about something we know google has been doing for years, but all of their video search results seem to be solely youtube. I don't know what kind of weird contract ddg got themselves stuck in, but including other domains in video search would be step 1...
