@mingtang howdy. I recall reading a few years ago that many Chinese people avoid helping the injured for fear of getting taken advantage of, even when they had nothing to do with the injury. It seems to be "a real thing" (http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1072095.shtml). Is it something that you've ever been affected by or is it something you've had to consider?
@mingtang I could see how that would be a concern. The weirdest thing to me about that story was that it was paired with stories like that described here: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2015/09/why-drivers-in-china-intentionally-kill-the-pedestrians-they-hit-chinas-laws-have-encouraged-the-hit-to-kill-phenomenon.html
I could understand not helping injured victims as a result of the bystander effect, but the "hit to kill" thing made me sick. Like, I can't imagine myself or anyone who isn't already a hardened criminal killing someone like that.
