(I got to successfully use the italian/femine version of this phrase and impressed my mother in law by having the waiter hand her the check instead of me)

(I only wish I had learned this one, for the crazy guy that kept coming to our table at the cafe. The waitress told us to just ignore him because he is crazy. This would have been the best response of all)

The phrase she knows is "Je hoeft elle erg witte tanden" - it means "You have very white teeth." (Perhaps a very useful phrase in NL, though I am not sure where it would come in handy.

The new line that he teaches her to say is "om je beter me up te eten" which she practices in the most adorable way and when she is back in her body, she finally says it and asks what it means.... "The better to eat you up!" <- perhaps an equally useful phrase in NL, YMMV, but feel free to give either of them a try and let me know how it works. :)
I thought it was hilarious, especially as a dragged out running gag.

@Surasanji I can read the shit out of some Hebrew, vowels or not. But again, I only understand a handful of words, some for worship and some like "Sheket y'ladeem" basically telling me to shut up :)

@freemo the premise is that on their wedding day this "crazy old man" shows up and wants to kiss the bride, and when he does they switch souls. So the rest of the movie is as you can guess trying to get back to the right people in the right bodies, but old, near death, dude is preferring being in cute healthy girl body, and no one will believe crazy old dude body that he is Meg Ryan. ... But the Dutch language gag is funny.

@freemo Alec Baldwin's character, can speak Dutch for some reason (probably 2D immigrant) and Meg Ryan's character says the only thing she can say in Dutch is "Je hoeft elle erg witte tanden".... She tells her I will teach you something else and "om je beter me up te eten" which he doesn't tell her the meaning until the end of the movie.

@Surasanji So at a certain age it is necessary to learn Hebrew. Not so much that you could have or understand a conversation. But so that you can read and speak the words on a page aloud, without necessarily knowing what they mean or translate them. ::sigh::

Around the same time, my middle school had all the teachers. So we in 6th grade had to take 5 languages through the year (5-6 weeks of each) Spansh, Latin, German, Russian, and French.

Just enough to make an "informed" decision on what you would like to study for 4 years of HS.

@ultramarine okay, one more funny observation. I make soap. One of the products for coloring it is called ultramarine (which I think is based on mica or some kind of oxides not the gem) but it comes in pretty much all the colors. So you can buy Ultramarine Red, Blue, Lavender, Pink etc.. It just hurts my ears to hear it used like that. Similar to when people refer to all carbonated beverages as "cokes". What kind of coke do you want? I'll take a 7Up. :)
