@hrysku @eniuu @polamatysiak przegrzanie reaktora mają na koncie Japończycy położeni na Pacyficznym Pierścieniu Ognia, doświadczający ciągłe trzęsienia ziemi i tsunami i posiadający wtedy podobno 44 elektrownie atomowe a nie Polska położona pośrodku Europy i posiadająca 0 elektrowni atomowych? Kto by pomyślał.

Crazy read: detecting positions of players in Counterstrike by *listening to their GPU over a microphone*

@mangeurdenuage @MK2boogaloo @coolboymew damn, I didn't think it was that bad. And here we were joking about the UK potentially becoming the first formerly developed country…

@coolboymew @MK2boogaloo @mangeurdenuage Them's fighting words. France being officially a developed country should not be as centralised, but the other big cities are probably not much better when it comes to cost of living.

@foone this brings up another interesting issue, if you placed the portals in places with enough gravitational difference, the gravity pulling on whatever you stick through the portal will rip it off as soon as it can overcome tension keeping both sides of the body together. It may even turn it into dust, since the tension will pull more of the object through the portal, which will be ripped off, but not before exerting enough force to pull more…

@foone the portals connect space, you don't move through them at the speed of light, you move through them at whatever speed you move in the space around them since they're no different than any other plane cut through it.

@VD15 the only worse plug is DVI, which by default exists in 8-dimensional quantum uncertainty state and it's impossible to plug it the right way without looking.

Bonus points for trying to plug in an -A or -I into a -D port and bending the analog pins.

I have received a notification a minute ago that the FreeBSD team decided to resolve an issue that I reported 22 years ago. They even used my (trivial) patch. I completely forgot about that. I guess I'm a FreeBSD developer now (w).

@Retrograde every artist steals every time they look at another piece of art if we consider training a neural network "stealing".

@nazokiyoubinbou @zstg there was a problem some time ago where a windows update would mess the ESP up and make an installed linux unbootable, so not even doing it in that order is enough sometimes.

… technically not wrong but not 100% truthful about it either 😂 when in doubt don’t run unknown commands for the internet or LLM. Be careful. #linux #unix #macos

@mangeurdenuage reciting that mantra in my head unironically helped me through bad times some years ago. Dune based as always.

@CodingItWrong when they do people don't buy them because they're more expensive.
Businesses only adjust to the market we create.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

There is an increase of account takeovers due to insiders at telco firms simply giving control to people paying them. Do a check on systems where this single factor would permit an account compromise. And change the configuration. These are opportunistic trawling attacks. This is becoming more common as attackers replicate the success.

The attacker uses other channels (like people search websites) to enumerate and guess the phone number attached to an online account and then checks against the telco they have control over.

The insider only briefly temporarily forwards the victim number to a 3rd party then switches it back to normal once they’re in. This is how they stay quiet since most victims will not have leverage or telemetry to understand how they got hacked.

It was their cell phone provider.

Make it so account recovery systems require multiple factors and remove telephony-based recovery for VIP accounts entirely.
Go check your systems now. Go try to access all your stuff like you forgot your password.

I am very serious.

@freemo I assume they just announce themselves so the traffic would be comparable to being in a room with some people whose phones have bluetooth turned on and discoverable, especially with bluetooth's puny range.
