@thendrix OMG, I remember reading about that after looking into PowerPC. It sounds like a nightmare to write code for.
PowerPC should have stuck around for a few more generations.

I started doing graphics on framebuffer. My favorite era was proto-compute shaders with PS3 CELL SPUs. Few people at the time understood what was happening and where it was going.
Minor arch changes aren’t so interesting to me, and they don’t even matter for that long.
@thor Touch grass sounds like a very ungrounded thing to say. What type of grass? Why not touch a deciduous tall thing that uses capillary action in a more impressive way?
@thendrix Ever had to deal with VLIW hardware like AMD's preGCN architecture? Is it using the built-in shader cores or is that even a thing anymore?
To know the root of the problem is to understand how many bandaids have been applied.

I sometikes wonder if I'm a narcissist. On the other hand, I get input from people around me that justifies a certain belief that I have a bit of talent. And I get out of the way if I bother people. It's probably not possible for a narcissist to conclude that he is a narcissist though.
@thor People are too quick to judge. If you haven't drowned yourself in a reflection pool of your own image, you probably can just dismiss Psychology for what it is. It's overused and has to rewrite itself every time it causes mass racism and discrimination. A tool of oppression and suffering.
