There it is! The Open Book is among the finalists for the 2023 Hackaday Prize. Which means the heat is on: I have just under six days to shoot a video about the Open Book (and publish BOMs and design files, which, whatever, that's table stakes regardless). The quest continues! https://hackaday.com/2023/10/04/hackaday-prize-2023-the-wildcard-finalists-are-here/
Hey there friends; you are friggin amazing and there are way too many of y'all for me to send individual messages today so I'm hoping you see this one.
It's 9:07 AM Eastern and I'm glad you are alive.
Thank you for being here with me.
More fun with plushies and electronics. This guy doesn't have a name yet. A capacitive touch sensor in each hand changes patterns/colors of the LEDs in the ears and antenna. The XIAO sense controller has a built in mic and accelerometer, so I plan to add some more interactive features in the #circuitpython code. I purchased the base sewing pattern on Etsy, and the designer has a great website where she makes many free plushie sewing patterns available (https://cholyknight.com/)
It's 6:32 PM Eastern and I'm glad you are alive.

Maker Faire Bay Area is coming up fast! We’ll be there with the blinkiest booth ever the weekend of Oct 13-15! We’re bringing a few new things like these sweet bottle openers plus all of our soldering kits, Blobs!, the ever squishabke Blinky plushie and not squishabke Blinky box kit. We’ll have some stylin Bright Wearables by @geekmomprojects, lots of things powered by @wizard ‘s Pixelblaze, and a few little things by @oskitone . Hope to see you there!
Did you know that the ‘2222’ in 2N2222A is because people use too too too too many of this NPN Bipolar Junction Transistor? That and more as we go over the history of the 2N2222A transistor.

While troubleshooting some problems with my LED Mapper web tool, I've added what I feel are some pretty useful new features.
Common problems with layout inputs are now reported, like non-zero start index, non-continuous sequences & duplicate indices.
You can now view numbers and/or dots in the preview & you can choose between index, X, Y, angle or radius, which can help visualize the map.
Try it here & let me know if you have any suggestions: jasoncoon.github.io/led-mapper
Everybody, meet Karma, my new colorful companion bot designed with @Jorvon_Moss. She (she's definitely a girl, because Karma's a bitch) sits on my shoulders and respond to faces and to touch. One ear lights blue, depending on which side of midline she sees the closest face. Her head moves to track it too, though that part needs work. There is a small ($10!) "person" sensor in her head that locates face bounding boxes, plus a capacitive touch sensor that changes animation patterns when petted.
My wife and I went on a date to Terra Luna by Quixotic at the Overland Park Arboretum last weekend. It was actually very well done for Kansas City. Lots of LEDs and lasers:

I have some thoughts on the PAM8301 Datasheet.
Check out the latest episode of #DatasheetDigest.

I know it's still rather a lot out there in the world and boy it feels like it has been that way forever now.
It's been years of unrelenting stress and it's OK if you feel the weight of it all; that's only natural.
You're not alone. We're all in this together.
