ADVISORY: I will be giving a talk NEXT weekend, June 24th, at Crowd Supply’s Teardown conference in Portland, Oregon. My topic: “Making the Most of Your Microcontroller.”
Full schedule should be posted by end of week; in the meantime, tickets are here! https://www.crowdsupply.com/teardown/portland-2023
Two of my favorite makers are LIVE right now! @alexglow @XRobotsUK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YY3CUDuwUM4
Today is a fantastic day to tell someone how much you appreciate them.
It'll mean a lot to them to hear it even if they know it.
Give it a try!
I made a (well-coordinated) LED tote and crossbody bag using the technique of 3D printing translucent tiles onto tulle and inserting them through corresponding holes in the bags' front panels. I sewed long zippers in the lining of both bags to make it easy to access the interior, and attached a flexible LED string behind the tiles with hot glue. A #Pixelblaze controller inside each bag makes it easy to run synchronized patterns. I'll be writing up a "how to" guide on them for @makemagazine.
The design is just about finalized for the LED lanyards we'll assemble and code at my #teardown workshop next week. I tried to keep the assembly as simple as possible so we can focus on writing animations for them in #CircuitPython.
Open Book advisory! There are a few more Open Book kits available on the Oddly Specific Objects shop. Priced at $60 and currently shipping only to the United States. While you're there, make sure to also grab an Oddly Specific Daybook or a hexagon sticker sheet; everything on the Oddly Specific Shop is back in stock and can ship tomorrow! https://shop.oddlyspecificobjects.com/products/open-book-abridged-edition-kit
New on the Patreon: an exploration of whether it makes sense to manufacture the Feather Low Energy board I've been working on for the Feather Op Amp Lab. I'm not going to lie to you: behind the paywall, my conclusion is that I have no idea. https://www.patreon.com/posts/84016639
Hey you; you're amazing and I'm glad you're here.
I know you may not always feel it but we all see how awesome you are.
Thanks for being here with us.
Finished mapping Squishy Icosahedron's pixel positions (in its *unsquished* state, at least.) Next steps are to add the #pixelblaze sensor board, embed it inside the icosahedron, and code some motion-reactive animations.
It's 8:45 PM Eastern and I'm glad you are alive.
Thank you for being here with me.
#FastLED 3.6 is out! New device support, plenty of bug fixes, and even a few new drawing functions!
Huge thanks to the wonderful world-wide FastLED community of artists and developers!

Taking a break before sewing in the LED string, but I stuffed some fiberfill stuffing into the shell to see how it looks. Aside from the slightly wonky zipper, I like the overall shape and feel (fluffy and squishy).
Hey friend; I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It's a holiday in the US; I hope you got some extra time off.
Be kind to yourself; it's been rather a lot for rather a long time now.
I miss you.
