It is, on occasion, pretty swell to send someone a message reminding them they are a force for good in your world and that you appreciate them.

Know that you are not alone. Know that we all benefit from having you here with us.

I apologize; I'm not always great at remembering to reach and and remind you that I love you.

Why? What a silly question. Because you're worth it of course.

I captured this extreme closeup of a 1" Fibonacci128 and its tiny 1mm LEDs after successfully reworking and replacing a damaged LED. 🔬
Wait for it. 😁
Yes that's a human hair. Yes those bond wires inside the LEDs are even thinner.
Sorry for the shaking, my setup isn't the most solid.

It's 3:30 PM Eastern and I'm glad you are alive.

Thank you for being here with me.

I got a tiny LED ring with 60 even tinier LEDs (CR2032 for scale) from generous and meticulous maker @maketvee a while back, and have been meaning to turn it into a wearable. Today I finally got around to designing a 3D printed pendant bezel. Next step is to select a controller and design a housing for the controller/battery combo that sits behind my neck so that only the delicate-looking ring is visible when worn.

today at school I gave a presentation to my labmates: 40 minutes on my deal, at the biweekly lab meeting. This slide in particular, from the section on Open Source Hardware, felt worth sharing. It's about folks using the Open Book's bespoke UI framework, Focus: “This is a total community build: a board I didn’t fabricate or assemble, in an enclosure I didn’t print, built by someone I’ve never met, running code I didn’t write. It goes to show the power of open source hardware to build community.”
