Paint Drying, rated U, is a 2016 film that was produced, directed and shot by Charlie Shackleton, to protest film censorship in the UK and the cost to independent filmmakers. The film contains 10 hours & 7 minutes of white paint drying on a brick wall, forcing the BBFC to watch all ten hours to give the film an age rating classification. He initially shot 14 hours of 4K footage and opened a Kickstarter to pay the BBFC's per-minute rate for as long as possible. It raised £5,936 from 686 backers.
Still the occasional gem on the bird site, though the sifting is hard work.

"The AMNH collected the remains of at least 12,000 individuals through 150 years of purchases, donations, and expeditions. While the existence of this collection is not a secret, their identities are generally unknown. After I received an anonymous tip last year, I began trying to identify these individuals, many of whom came from Indigenous or colonized populations around the world."

Stop pretending that planting trees can justify fossil fuel emissions
It’s time to return to the heart of the matter, they argue: reduce greenhouse gas emissions where they’re produced. Cut through the PR smokescreen, and it becomes clear that the carbon offsets approach to net zero emissions produces practically zero results
@freemo @kjetil_kilhavn @niclas @Miriamm @samuraikid Freemo my guy you gotta stop calling it an "invasion".
Calling refugee immigration an "invasion" is an dickish thing to do. Please stop. It makes you look like those xenophobes in the US who talk about central american immigrant "invasions".
There were waves of immigration from 1900 on, predictably leading to tension and violence against the immigrants. (Britain I think did not do a great job dealing with this in a number of ways!)
None of this in the slightest has anything to do with whether Israel is justified in the way they are prosecuting this war against Hamas baby killing terrorists, of course, which is another reason to stop saying it.
@valur Thank you for following @auschwitzmuseum
Auschwitz is a place that shows where hatred, antisemitism and contempt for a fellow man led people decades ago. It is a place where we should reflect on our responsibility for the world we live in.

Pro-tip for Italian ticket machines: Leave them on Italian. The first thing they do is a loud announcement in your chosen language warning you of pickpockets and, ironically, notifying all pickpockets in the area that you are a tourist.
If you buy a regional train ticket in Italy from a machine or counter, check if you have to stamp it on one of those green machines. Some tickets are only valid for the trains selected (“Valido solo per il giorno e il treno indicato”) and don’t need stamping, others are valid a certain time after stamping (e.g. “Vale 4h da convalida”).
Or just stamp them all. It’s an age old tradition, after all. Even if the French foolishly decided to get rid of it.
Here's a little reminder: you don't always have to pay for expensive academic journals to learn about a specific topic. I'm not even talking about piracy (which is actually based as hell), but rather just trying to reach out to the researchers directly
Sure, they are busy people and maybe some of them won't want to reply back, but I would be surprised if a passionate researcher wouldn't want to answer a couple of questions on their findings about moss or whatever
I genuinely don't understand modern business.
So Warner Brothers bought HBO Max, a proprietary streaming service with a built-in customer base who love HBO's content.
They then decided to strip it of HBO content and sell that content to Netflix, a direct competitor.
Do I have that right?
What the actual fuck?

@DaveFernig While that seems accurate im not sure how much of it is training vs the system. The change has been too short term (particularly worse the last few years) for it to be a training issue.
As best I can understand the issue comes about from the FDA and the legal system which has caused them to be unable to treat and act out of fear of law suits. Plus rules out of the FDA seem to strongly discourage prescription drugs.
@DaveFernig seem to have the same problem from older doctors. In fact might be worse from the older generation.
