Now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing and the need for using tags, a re-#introduction.
I'm a #planetary and #environmental #geologist and currently a #postdoc at NAU.
My #research includes performing #fieldwork using #arctic, #subarctic, and #alpine #periglacial analogs to better understand the history of #ice on #Mars.
I'm also into #photography and the #weather.
I'm interested in re-connecting with folks in the #geoscience and #astronomy communities making the #TwitterMigration
It’s funny how different the mood is on the two apps.
Here, people are excited and curious, helping each other figure things out, making connections, offering advice, re-assembling communities & networks, and an overall optimism about non-corporate social media.
Back on birdapp, it’s a mix of gloom and doom combined with comments about how awful Mastodon is.
Maybe this will combust, implode, fail, and be forgotten. But I’m glad we’re here together, now. #TwitterMigration
Here's my brief #introduction
I'm currently part-time working towards a master's in #physics
I also have a part-time job in the #publicTransport sector.
In my spare time I get up to lots of different things that also change fairly frequently. Currently it's climbing, football ⚽️, cycling, running, watching TV (current series of Taskmaster and I'm a celeb), and spending too much time scrolling social media 😅
#Introduction Rural environmentalist at heart stuck in the city. I love playing and working outdoors, currently employed in environmental consulting (~6 years), formerly outdoor education. I often share photos of things I find outdoors while working or exploring. Super interested in herpetology and camera trapping. Keeper of a 🐢, 🐍, & 🐦. Other passions include board games, baking, travelling, making music, and hockey.

Excited to announce that I'm hiring two Postdocs in Climate Change Resilience, with a focus on heat, starting at as soon as January 1, 2023. Candidates with experience in climate change resilience research and an interest in heat research in geography, urban planning, public policy, public health, environmental sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The posting will be up shortly, until then please DM or reply here for more information!
I guess an introduction is in order. I'm an analytical scientist by background and I'm currently Head of Research and Development at a Nano-tech company, in the UK.
I care a LOT about supporting the mental health of researchers in academia, industry and beyond. I recently wrote a book "Managing Your Mental Health During Your PhD: A Survival Guide" to try to support those who might be struggling.
I love gardening, I love animals, I love baking. I sometimes struggle to like myself. That's me.
Hello! 👋
I'm a Research Fellow in Physics at the University of Bristol, interested in the structure and properties of liquids, particularly under extreme high-pressure or temperature conditions, with applications in emerging energy technologies, industrial melt processing, volcanism, and planetary formation.
I care about improving equity and mental health in research and higher education.
Outside of work I have three daughters who keep me busy. I quite like the simple things in life.
Here goes my #introduction !
🎓 I'm a material scientist, currently doing a PhD in #laser technologies at Delft University of Technology.
🖌️ In my free time I also work as freelance #3D artist, illustrator, and graphic designer for everything science-related (commissions always open at https://www.farlandgraphics.com/).
🐲 On the side, #dnd enthusiast and #coffee lover.
Can't wait to meet fellow scientist on this platform!

(You will have to be a little patient with the thread - as threads are not properly supported on Mastodon - so this is going to take a while to post!)
The whole story started during a COVID lockdown when I discovered an Eiffel Tower made of bed springs in my neighbourhood in Berlin
This is now known on Google Maps as the Tempelhofer Eiffelturm (it’s at Bergholzstrasse 11)
I guess it's time for an #introduction: Hi, I am an #illustrator primarily doing #sciArt, mostly for #neuroscience. www.somedonkey.work
If you don’t like #mice probably don’t follow me :-)
I am interested in #neuroscience, #contemporaryArt and #literature. Happy to discuss #graphic design and how to improve #scientificFigures.
Unafraid of #stableDiffusion
I should probably add to this and then pin it as a proper introduction at some point.
I currently work as a scientific #editor for a #chemistry journal. My background is previously in #teaching, with an interest in #inclusion, hidden curriculum elements and #wellbeing.
Prior to that, I completed a brief postdoc and PhD in #computational #chemistry which involved studying transition metal #catalysis, enzymes via #QM/MM and some side projects on #chalcogen electrochemistry and NHC - Au complexes.
I'm interested in #scicomm, #compchem and #organometallic #catalysis on this side of things.
Hello #Mastodon, I am a lecturer in #Psychology at UofGlasgow. Here to share my hobby #Photography & boost my interests in #OpenScience #DataScience #Methods & #RStats as part of #PsyTeachR at #UofGPsychNeuro
You’ll also see me tooting ideas on #Assessment #DigitalEducation #AccessibleLearning #UniversalDesign #Teaching #Pedagogy #HigherED & #SoTL
And my #CreativeFamily family inspires me to #LoveScotland, be an #LGBTIQ ally, challenge #Racism & care about #ClimateJustice
