@academicalnerd What do you mean? The D'Artagnan reference? That's no quote. I just watched yesterday part of the cheesy movie, so probably something from it got stuck in my head 😄 . Could have been also some chemical remnants of the vodka I had with that movie...
Anyhow, the movie is cheesy, but there are some memorable quotes when I almost spat out the drink: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1509767/quotes/qt1580610

@academicalnerd :-) That was bit of a dig of course, no worries young D'Artagnan. What I meant, though, was a serious thought: it's important to (maybe intentionally) leave or create space for serendipity in a life. Or perhaps, to leave a bit of an empty space to fill itself by life's own course.
As a side-note: to do that in itself is actually easy. What is more difficult is to accept all the uncertainty and discomfort of living with that empty space.
While I am also a (over?)planning analytical creature (according to people around me), I leave space for throwing a dice, or taking a plunge into a deep dark water. You know that kind of "I have no clue what will happen next, this is probably going to change the course of my life, I don't know where to, but I am strong enough to bear the consequences either way - and I do this because if I didn't, I would regret it till the end of my days - so screw it and let's see what comes out..."
Best of luck!
@academicalnerd This way, you'll never discover new things. This way, Vikings would never reach the Vinland and Columbus would never reach Caribbeans. By the same token, you'll never escape the confines of mediocre life. Give it a thought.
@pony You need to start somewhere. Sometimes at the very bottom of the barrel.

@mathias Makes sense. Again I get reminded that to decipher Germanic languages vocabulary is to say the word aloud and then it makes sense:
* German [Fahrt](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Fahrt)
* Dutch [vaart](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vaart)
Although in neither I heard it used in the meaning of "speed", rather in the sense of journey/navigation.
Re infart/utfart: German Ausfahrt is indeed the word. What got me the first time was the Dutch "uit" ("out" - pronounced exactly the same way) written all around motorways. Took me a while to decipher.
So Happy Fart-ing in the New Year? 😉
@piggo Then [archive.is](https://archive.md/) is your friend. But I guess you know it already...
@piggo I wish foreignpolicy.com came up with some reasonable subscription price, rather than $200/yr 😞 . In my case WaPo would just add to the maelstrom of information coming my way, but solid strategic analyses are precious in these crazy times.
@piggo that's a good deal there.
@mathias what does it mean?
@piggo So your adventure with SDR led you to ADS-B space 🙂 👍
@rjayasinghe poodle fan! 👍
Exploring, failing, backtracking, just to identify the only viable path forward. And then scarred, stumbling forward into the future. Learning.
Boring and steady. Knowing little and questioning a lot. Mostly harmless.

This is an experimental scrapbook space. A collection of stuff I want to keep in a form somewhere on the spectrum between a blog and a shoe-box full of scraps, cut-outs, quotes, links and reading notes and sometimes my own silly thoughts about them.
Perhaps it might be of marginal interest to others too, but I don't care that much.
