@baldur it's the writing where the value lies, not in the tooling around it.

@baldur Totally agree. A directory of markdown text notes/files is just about what one needs. Potentially structured and/or in a git repo, but that's about it. Or anything else equivalent - e.g., a plain wiki or such. Whatever fancy tooling around is just as you say: fog.

@jens (and here I shall stop my rescuer tendencies triggering me 😄 - unless prompted/asked)

@jens I am glad this is a little bit helpful. So to speed up some reading and sifting through chaff, here I dig up some stuff from my own journals:
* bpdfamily.com/content/karpman- -- also on how to escape the triangle and a lot of the context too.
* playing a rescuer role is one of the most intriguing pieces in all this. For me, it collided with my sense of "how to be a good person" which equaled (and still to some extent does equal - if left unchecked) to help others, i.e., some form of rescue - which is somehow wrong - they say... But how wrong it was, was seriously intriguing to me for a long time. Until...
* ... until I saw this: youtube.com/watch?v=jSdODaTeHX - the most striking point was when the psychologist says that rescuer's intrinsic position is to see people as "one-down". Which horrified me (as it clashes with some other deep values hold) and opened my eyes to what is really going on.

Good luck there!

@jens Just one "fav" to the first toot of the thread. I am not going to comment much, there's a lot to unpack there. And I also sense a personal struggle behind all this (in a sense of trying to make a sense of this). Just: 1) "thank you very much for this". 👍 and 2) this is a good path and it leads out of the quagmire you describe.

@jens The whole thread is good, thanks for it. I react here (though I was triggered several times already):

> so what's the choice for them

Here's a proper psych theory about the dynamics you describe: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpman_

Keywords: Karpman drama triangle, co-dependency, emotional abuse

There is a way out of the triangle and it is by refusing to participate in the dynamics. I experienced it as an "escape through the centre" of the triangle. There are smart articles and youtube videos on this just a google search away.

@EdBridges@toot.wales 10k under 40min? That's pretty good! Congratulations!

@onlmaps Well, hypothetical maps are just that - maps. The whole topic is much more complicated though:

> When Greenland melts, places as far away as Norway and Scotland could actually see the sea level fall by as much as 50 meters.

@pony Which obviously was a request for confirmation to sooth his anxiety about whatever uncertainty caused by the term "replacement". The guy just wanted to go home, felt very anxious about the whole thing, so he tried to get an external validation/confirmation that everything is actually OK.

@lanodan

"In the boarding area..." 🤔 What? :blobthinking: Aaah. He? Alright, whatever...

The messaging is totally off. In neither of those languages does the inscription make any sense. While in some languages (e.g., CZ) you can create such an open sentence, in most west-EU languages it just does not make sense at all. Here you need to think hard to connect the pic with the words. Most people don't think that hard. Utterly useless sticker and a waste of money.

@pony

@kattascha Well... This is just a pile of obscenities on top each other and some dubious musical quality. Do we seriously need more of this?
