“My gender has people asking a lot of questions already answered by the name of my union.”

The GOP loves blaming the deficit on Social Security and Medicare. But the real culprit is giveaways to corporations and the rich.

If not for the regressive tax cuts under Bush and Trump, we would have a stable debt-to-GDP ratio.

That's one thing the GOP will never tell you.

“With each week that passes, the resemblance to the emaciated prisoners of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen grows stronger. It is a terrifying realisation that Israel, created after the horrors of the Holocaust as a sanctuary state for Jewish people, is massacring another innocent people with self-righteous entitlement.”

At least 17 Republican candidates who put false claims about the 2020 election at the center of their 2022 and 2023 statewide campaigns are running for office again in 2024.

But this time around, most of them aren’t making the debunked claims that the race was stolen from Donald Trump a linchpin of their pitches to voters. Rather, these candidates have generally broadened their focus on the issue, campaigning on ideas such as “election security” and “election integrity.”

The GOP's tax cuts for their billionaire donors ballooned the deficit, so they're blaming the problem on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — demanding cuts to these programs that millions of Americans rely on.

It's socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for everyone else.

I think the NY AG might want to re-evaluate those Trump properties. I suspect they're worth a lot less if they're packed with chrysotile...

"Trump has directly supported the use of asbestos, writing in his 1997 book The Art of the Comeback that it is "100% safe, once applied." He blamed the mob for efforts to discontinue its use: "I believe that the movement against asbestos was led by the mob..." "

"I'm A Doctor: Corporate Greed Is Killing Your ER"

Private equity is swallowing up America's emergency rooms. 1 in 4 ERs are now staffed by private equity-based firms. The waits are longer, the bills are higher, and ER doctors are being replaced by lower-paid contractors.

@Adam_Cadmon1 This is also your daily reminder that the US laws allowing for arms transfers to Israel have human rights clauses that explicitly prohibit a receiving government from interfering with or delaying the delivery of humanitarian aid from the United States. 8 US Senators wrote a public letter notifying the President that they believe further arms transfers would be a violation under the law.

Trump pledged revenge and retribution should he regain office. He says he will be a dictator on “day one.” He calls opponents “vermin” who he will “root out.” He says the blood of our country is being poisoned.

We are far past left vs right.

Our choice is democracy our fascism.

Israeli forces have arrested and severely beaten Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul in Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital.

Al-Ghoul was there early on Monday with his crew and other reporters to cover the Israeli army’s fourth raid into the hospital, where thousands of civilians are trapped, including medical staff, patients and displaced families.

WaPo: Toxic #asbestos is now fully banned, a move that #EPA calls ‘historic’.
The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday finalized a ban on chrysotile asbestos, part of a family of toxic minerals linked to lung cancer and other illnesses that the agency estimates is responsible for about 40,000 U.S. deaths each year.

PBS: According to KFF Health News, more than half a million babies are delivered each year in Catholic-run hospitals across the United States. In most cases, there are no complications, but during an emergency, patients can find themselves caught between accepted medical standards and these facilities' religious-based policies. The effective federal corporate income tax rate:

1950: 50%
1990: 25%
2020: 13%

Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate.

That is how we will pay for it.

“Sometimes a little short-term pain is needed for long-term gains.”

And here is maybe the ’s biggest blind spot. There will be no long-term gains from another Trump . Zero. None. The country is not going to “wake up” en masse, eject from office at every level from Washington to the county dogcatcher’s office, and usher in a glorious new age. It. Is. Not. Going. To. Happen.

This was true in #1968, it was true in #2000, and it’s true in #2024. If there’s ever a time when it isn’t true, I don’t expect to live to see it.

But there will be a whole lot of short-term and medium-term and long-term pain. Maybe disgruntled voters with a long list of reasons why isn’t morally pure enough think they’ll live through it. Hell, maybe they’re right … which says a whole lot about their version of morality, none of it nice.

Their “short-term pain for long-term gain” is suffering and death for people I love. Anyone who’s okay with that can GTFO.
