Somehow I got this history of dating computer scientists. I don't know how this happens but they somehow tend to fall for me and always come up my way. What have I done?

@IntegralDuChemin LOL.... 😺

Are you into tech, computers, IT?

Geeky guys tend to dream of a girl who's got the same interests they do. I know. I found out a new penpal was right along those areas and couldn't believe it. Great fun to wait for her letter, and we got along well.

@design_RG 🙂 Sounds great 🙂
I am a theoretical quantum physicist but I do some IT stuff as well. I do quantum cryptography and tend to spend a lot of time at hacker conferences in Europe. And yes, meeting nice people there happens quite often.

@freemo @design_RG Good luck. Sounds great. So what do you think about me and the way I write - guy or girl?

@freemo don't answer it, you know my real name and identity. please no spoilers 🙂 @design_RG

@freemo @design_RG I think I told you once. And for the guessing of my gender I meant @design_RG

@IntegralDuChemin

I am not good with names. Unless your name happens to be a number, then I'd remember :)

@design_RG

@IntegralDuChemin
I had thought a female but I think I found a clue once on your profile, that it was a male user, if I am not mistaken.

@freemo

@IntegralDuChemin I would have to look at your profile and see if I could identify it again, it's been some time past now.

@design_RG I am a woman, yes :-) @freemo
But what clue are you talking about? 🙂

@freemo I didn't choose this... I was born this way :-)
Wasn't always easy though
@design_RG

@IntegralDuChemin
Ah, I see -- you never left clues either way, but I thought I had seen a snippet somewhere, that made me think male at that point.

@freemo

@design_RG I thought most things I write would make people think I were male. 🙂 That's part of the fun playing with the big boys. Well the hacker kiddies 🙂
@freemo

@IntegralDuChemin

Presuming we are talking gender here then I'd say the use of the word "darling" in your bio would be suggestive of you being female.

If we are talking sex, well, then I'd have no clue. For that I'd need pictures and I'd rather not guess a persons sex :)

an expensive ballpoint is largely all about just being jewelry in a sense. Its some expensive metal, looks nice, and makes you happy to write with as anything of value wold. But in the end the actual ballpoint refill on the inside is likely no better than cheaper pens. So the writing expiernces wont be too different. With that said I can still understand the appreciation of having a nice pen, even a ballpoint.

But for us fountain pen users it is often uch the opposite. All we care about is the nip and the feel on paper and the look of the pen for many isnt important.

I have a 1000$ pen where the body itself is mostly plastic (though it does have solid white gold trimmings and the nib is solid white gold too).

The feeling of a ballpoint is, as the ink would suggest, sticky, its like walking through mollases, the ink in a fountain pen is very different and it glides.

But I also loe flex pens, so many of my nibs flex and can give all sorts of fancy writing you cant do with a standard nib either.

@IntegralDuChemin

@freemo ?

I think you switched the band frequency on us, wrong channel?

[we were not talking pens, were we?]
@IntegralDuChemin

@freemo
All is cool then. No worries and the typing wasn't lost either.

That lady I mentioned and posted a snapshot, is a local user too. 😛

Not very active, but I invited, she came.

@IntegralDuChemin

@design_RG

Nice, we need some of the charm a lady would bring around this place :)

@IntegralDuChemin

@freemo
Agreed - I have a lot of female pen pals, specifically because I felt the need to listen (read) the female view point and reasoning, prose. I have enjoyed it a lot.

@freemo
Yes, me too -- and I got along well with her, although we never got close geographically.

She's in the Prairies area.

@IntegralDuChemin

@design_RG "I couldn't believe it" - I have had the same reaction. Met a nice guy on Tinder and asked him what he would do over the weekend. He was attending a FOSS conference in Brussels. I had a seminar which belonged to a lab course and two guys gave the worst presentation I have ever heard and I just improvised to have some fun. I asked him "Will Stallman be there?" He was like "You know Stallman?" I like "Yes. Such a shame that Hurd never took off" 🙂
We met some days later for our first date and he then told me that the profile was a scam, some guys making fun of him. He could barely believe it. OMG, THAT was real fun. Didn't work out in the end but still a lot of fun 🙂

@IntegralDuChemin Great story, thanks for telling it.

I love writing and telling stories, and am into letter writing; exchange lots with pen pals all over the world.
