In positive news, happy to see my postdoc labmates Nick Shin and Elaine Tsui's work on SNAr on phenoxyls is up at JACS. Basically oxidize a phenol up to a phenoxyl and it SNArs like a juiced up nitroarene

I know it's kind of cheesy, but it means a lot to me and is kind of surreal when you see an official protein database like InterPro updates its protein function citing your PhD's discovery. I still remember the feeling of seeing those CYRI-A's flashes surrounding those vesicles..

Hi all, a little #introduction from me 🤗

I'm a new Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology at UCL Chemistry #London 🥳

My group develops methods to control nucleic acids (#DNA #RNA) and synthetic cells (#synbio) with stimuli, like light, temperature and magnetism - we use all sorts of chemistries like #photocages, #polymers, and #nanoparticles

I will also toot about parenting, #coeliac disease, and things I find funny!

Greetings #Chemiverse!

My #Introduction:

Professionally, I am a scientist with backgrounds in nanomaterials, catalysis, electrochemistry & spectroelectrochemistry. Currently I am a postdoc for the Center of Sustainable Nanotechnology (CSN) & the Haynes lab.

I am passionate about: #chemistry #education, #mentorship, #advocacy, #scicomm, #ScienceHenna, #InvisibleWork, #travel, #poetry, #nature & #running.

Beyond that, I love to learn, explore, grow, & spend time with family & friends! 💙 🙏🏽

Time for an #introduction. I'm a critical care doctor in Edinburgh.

I lead a research programme using host genomics to identify modifiable molecular targets for drug treatment in sepsis/critical illness/respiratory viruses. We'll test therapeutic targets in lung using microdosing via AI-driven bronchoscopes.

I lead the #GenOMICC study, co-lead #ISARIC4C, run the Outbreak Data Analysis Platform, and co-direct the Pandemic Science Hub at Edinburgh University.

An #introduction as I try to get the hang of this new space: I am a #supramolecular #chemist with interests in #flowchemistry , organic materials, macrocycles, and cages. I’m based at the University of Liverpool (all opinions my own etc).
I may talk about #automation in chem, #accessibility and #disability and #neurodivergence , our daft #cat or our exuberant kids, or I may just lurk while I get the hang of toots! Always interested in finding new #music too, tell me what you’re listening to.

Good morning! Time for another #science retrospective on Mastodon. In this paper we showed that (at least some) enzymes experience 'accelerated conformational searching' when they bind to their substrates. That is, they don't change the conformation space that they explore, but they explore it faster!

This is one of my favorite 'fundamental science' contributions from my group! Plus I got to do a TOC figure of a protein wearing sunglasses and riding a rocket.

Excited to present our BioRxiv preprint on chemical rational design strategies for developing molecular glue degraders through a covalent handle targeting RNF126! Congrats to Ethan Toriki and James Papatzimas and thanks to our Novartis collaborators! Also thanks to The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/20

#introduction Hello #chemtoots and #sciencetoots I'm a photochemist, researcher and father of a 2year old. I find fluorescent molecules exciting and like sharing their beautiful colours and other science stuff. Still figuring out this new #chemiverse #chemisty

#Introduction
I'm an #atmospheric chemist and mass spectrometrist at Bucknell University. My group (mainly undergraduates) studies #multiphase #chemistry of reactive gases at air-exposed surfaces, including inspiration from indoor building surfaces, the air-sea interface, #aerosol particle surfaces, lung fluid, and even insect surfaces! We use various mass spectrometry approaches to address #surface film chemistry questions.

#introduction time!

I did my bachelor's and master's degrees in Chemistry (Sicily, Italy). Then I moved to Finland for a Ph.D. in Physics to sharpen my computational skills and knowledge #compchem.

In 2019 I moved to Heidelberg (Germany) to a biochemistry Lab for a postdoc at the Heidelberg University Biochemistry Center. I love #lipids, and I work on lipid-protein and protein-protein interactions using both computational and wet-lab experiments.

Currently struggling to become a PI :)

I think I need more wine to write a proper introduction. But, I like proteins that stick to other proteins and create organised structures that bend phospholipid membranes. Why? They combine clever design with fundamental physical chemistry to maintain compartmentalisation of cellular functions. This means that I need to be a physical chemist and a bit of a cell biologist at the same time.
