New people, welcome to Mastodon and the Fediverse!
Here's how to get started:
1. Find some people to follow over on @FediFollows, and through Trunk (https://communitywiki.org/trunk)
2. Find out your Mastodon/Fediverse address so you can share it with friends (https://mstdn.social/@feditips/107248252715651564)
3. Invite people to join you on here by telling them to go to https://joinmastodon.org and click on "Get Started". It doesn't matter if they join a different server because the servers talk to each other (here's a bit more of an explanation https://mstdn.social/@feditips/107021461185874594)
4. Find out what the Fediverse is (https://mstdn.social/@feditips/107044096139091624)
5. Find out why Mastodon being on so many different servers/instances is a really good thing (https://mstdn.social/@feditips/107083735491993183)
6. If you see anything nasty, you can report it to your friendly server admin (https://mstdn.social/@feditips/106540152842368591)
7. You can (sort of) verify your account if you own a website (https://mstdn.social/@feditips/106274105538953001)
If you have any questions, @ me or DM me!
#Introduction Hello, I am a postdoctoral research associate at Robarts Research Institute, Canada.
I have been studying vascular biology, with a specialized focus on Aorta & muscle microvasculature, and broad interests in biomedical & biological sciences.
Currently writing up all viable projects in my generation Hopefully to be on the job market soon.
Nice to meet everyone on Mastodon
Hello #science Mastodon friends! I’m a postdoc at University of Geneva studying #membrane remodeling with #invitro #reconstitution cell biology tools. I love fluorescence #microscopy and #em. At the moment I’m actively studying #clathrin, #actin and #eisosome. I want to know more about membrane lipids and how they affect on membrane properties, protein functions and how membrane is deforming. #introduction
Watch this and try not to think about the space.
Congratulations @DInoueMT 💪🏼

After reading the paper, you will get some idea to understand why two different types of chiral patterns, i.e. monopolar rotational spiral and bipolar nematic pattern, emerge from gliding microtubules.

Understanding a little bit more about the #fediverse through data. Here is a plot of all #fediverse instances at instances.social as a function of their number of users and toots (statuses) and if they are open for new accounts. In general, instances are small in the number of users (median = 28). Interestingly, there are a lot of small, very active, and closed servers in the #fediverse. Also, some of the biggest servers are Japanese communities.
#PhD students of #Mastodon, I have created a Mastadon group for sharing PhD-related posts using @phdstudents when posting a PhD student toot. Let's help the group to grow and share our PhD student experiences.

Hi, #ScienceMastodon! It's time for an #introduction. 👋
I'm a PhD candidate in the Tolić lab where I study cell division & aneuploidy using STED, LLS & confocal #microscopy. 🧬🔬
Here's a video of the cell with marked chromosomes and tubulin going through mitosis. Chromosomes are colored for depth.
Let’s start a thread with all our: #DevBio #DevBiol #science peeps. Please add more below to help us find everybody! Who are your DevBio friends? We need to post to make this place more vibrant:

Tools for off- the-shelf CARTs:
"Conventional CRISPR-Cas nucleases install sequence-specific DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), enabling gene knock-out (KO) or targeted transgene knock-in (KI). However, simultaneous DSBs provoke a high rate of genomic rearrangements which may impede the safety of the edited cells. Here, we combine a non-viral CRISPR-Cas9 nuclease-assisted KI and Cas9-derived base editing technology for DSB free KOs within a single intervention."
Short #introduction :
I'm a first year PhD student at #NetSI. Broadly interested in #ComplexSystems and #NetworkScience . Currently, I'm looking into #NetworkDynamics, #Emergence and #CollectiveBahavior from the perspective of #InformationTheory and #BayesianInference .
Eventhough it's not my main area of expertise, I love to read and learn about #EvolutionaryBiology, #DevelopmentalBiology and #SystemsBiology .
So now that I'm satisfied that I might be on #Mastodon #FediVerse for a while, here is my #introduction. I am computational biologist interested in protein function prediction, microbial #genome #evolution. Since #biology is now a #BigData #science, I am also looking into various #DataScience aspects of biological #data especially data #bias and #imbalance, and how these biases affect our understanding of #life.
Quick #fediverse #mastodon question. Is it possible to follow an account through a list (getting the posts published in a list and not in my main feed)?
#introduction #introductions Hello, I'm Arli, a #bioinformatician and popular science writer. As a scientist, I'm working on various project such as #COVID19 drug and vaccine design, #dengue drug and vaccine design, #cancer vaccine, #plasmodium protein domain annotations and others. I also wrote several popular science article. Here is one of my popular article: https://generasipeneliti.id/tulisan.php?id=ID4kquIFxQqNQk&judul=The-Role-of-Bioinformatics-in-Monkeypox-Outbreak-Surveillance-
Salut salut 👋
Mendel's greenhouse, destroyed by the tornado of 1870, has been rebuilt under our cross-border #INTERREG program. Today, the leading partner of the project -- the #MendelMuseum under #MasarykUniversity #MUNI -- will officially open the greenhouse to the public.
Now that the Research Council of Norway is including #OpenScience practices as part of the evaluation criteria for grant applications, everyone is going to say that they’re going to include these practices in their proposed project, which is great!
But what’s better than saying that you’re *planning* do something is to demonstrate you’re *already* doing it, so I hope this motivates more people to start open science practices sooner.

Let's start with the #FluorescenceFriday @ mstdn.science !!
Here you have "the explosion of life" during #cell division.
#introduction take 2! I post about #imaging #STED #SuperResolution #cellbio #membranes and anything ARF GTPases but also about the joy and struggles of bring a mother of 2 and #newPi in academia #academicmum. I am currently on leave after the birth of n2 and trying to juggle running my lab and taking care of a baby with no sleep is the hardest thing I have ever done…

Biologist currently working at the Curie Institute.
I just finished my PhD on liver development and cell polarity in mice and recently started a post-doc on fly morphogenesis.
I'm mainly interested in microscopy, image analysis, biophysics and developmental biology.
