so... this is really interesting... but it makes me wonder... horse riding isn't that big of a thing anymore. I know some still do it, I just mean it's not as wide spread as it seems it was in the past... so why do we still wear trousers?

I am surprised that I did not know this about dandelions. I'm glad I know now lol. youtube.com/watch?v=xyePMeGE3C

Resistance against trans genocide often looks and feels like this: one, lone trans woman, standing alone, with no allies around her, her voice silenced, her dead mic raised defiantly above her head, her terrified eyes begging someone to listen, to help, to stop this madness.

“Their calculation is the same as it was for Jews in the 1930s: It doesn’t matter if we end up in a homeless shelter far away, it is still safer than living under this fascist government.”

-Brynn Tannehill describes the human tragedies beginning to unfold under violently extreme Republican rule.

@TonyStark

Republicans disenfranchised millions of PoC using mass incarceration & the "war on drugs".

Millions of PoC would still have access to vote, and an interest in the outcome of elections, if addiction had been treated as a medical crisis and not a criminal one.

Felony disenfranchisement for women has arrived.

Criminalizing reproductive medical treatment means millions of women will lose their right to vote.

@Pat Yeah, that might make sense if we were talking about "every time a dollar changes hands" but that's not what we're talking about.

We're talking about Income and Wealth taxes. Working-class people don't have the option to hide their money in "investments" and then live off even more tax breaks via loans that use those investments as collateral.

Many working-class people can barely make ends meet even having 2 or 3 jobs that don't even allow for a healthy amount of sleep, never mind having a normal life or taking care of kids.

But of course, you're right. Why would we want the super-wealthy to pay their fair share like everyone else? It makes oh so much brilliant sense to tax the poor more and the rich less.

Get your ass outta my notifications. My original post was just pointing out the tiny bit of positive news in that some of the rich people recognized the system is rigged in their favor and they don't want it rigged at all.

There's actually much more concerning shit to worry about in the country at the moment, like the quiet genocide that's been going on that you and most other's probably know next to nothing about.

And before you ask "What genocide?" here are the stages of genocide (a slow and gradual process if you didn't already know that) so you can educate yourself and ponder on which groups of people this might apply to.

@Pat Well, if you watched the video, you'd see that

1: it's millionaires, not billionaires. They actually make a joke about that in the video.

2: they are protesting, as you call it, the psychotic (GOP) plan to raise the debt ceiling while also cutting spending on some essential social programs, like food for those that can't get work and education and such while also giving more tax breaks to their billionaire friends.

These are millionaires that recognize that the current system is rigged to favor the super-wealthy and marginalize anyone that tries to stand up for what's right. And in the video, they point out the bullshit tax exemptions that let these super-wealthy billionaires basically hide much of their money away from being taxed.

What % of your earnings do you have to pay in taxes? If you're employed anywhere, I'm betting it's more than the 3.4% that Musk and Bezos and their ilk had to pay over the course of a decade or so.

@distrotube
Hey DT, I just thought you might be amused by what I just found.

@admitsWrongIfProven I have no idea where you're going with that, but you clearly missed the joke comparing the different circles of pepper heat to the different "circles of hell." If such a place existed, I'm sure it would be filled with all those peppers... and Republicans. 😛

This is why I never want to learn esperanto. I am, however, looking for alternatives. This is why I'm currently learning toki pona, because that is a great "starter" language, so to speak. I actually think toki pona could be perfect as a community and/or interpersonal language, but it's also a good stepping stone for learning other languages.
