#Twitter is now disallowing #Mastodon URLs in profiles. Trying to add one invokes a warning message about the URL being “malware.” This is #fascism. It’s also how a billionaire man baby has a tantrum in public places.

With each new surge of Mastodon users, I feel the need to point out:

1. Welcome!

2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.

3. Lots of people are willing to help.

4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.

5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.

Be patient.

The thing I struggle with most with Trump or Musk worship is how/why their devotees don’t see what the rest of us see.

Elon canceling a poll because he doesn’t like the result, or abandoning a live chat because the questions are hard, or banning reporters he doesn’t like… It feels like *work* to miss the obvious fact that he’s full of shit, and to assign genius to his decisions. But his biggest fans do so effortlessly.

It makes me wonder which failings of my own heroes I’m blind to, and why.

I haven't had time to write a real thing but I'm seeing a ton of new people, so here is my quick/dirty advice for people just arriving:

1. Just use the website at first. Third-party apps are great, but they often lack important features and may act weird when server loads are high, which they are during big migrations from Twitter. I started understanding a lot more when I switched to the web version.

Elon Musk and Autism/Aspergers

I certainly don't speak for all autistic people or for the autism community in general, but as an autistic person and someone who knows many autistic people who are kind, compassionate, honest, and decent human beings, I feel compelled to make this statement:

Elon Musk is an egotistical narcissistic megalomaniac who is out of touch with reality, power hungry, entitled, privileged, corrupt little man but nothing he does or thinks or says is because of autism.

If anyone is writing about him, or reporting on him, or making any attempt to analyze what is going on in that head of his, please keep autism out of the equation.

Does he actually have Aspergers, like he claims? Who knows. He says he does but clearly he lies. A lot. I don't know him well enough nor am I qualified to make that assessment.

Ultimately though, it doesn't matter. Autistic people can be evil too. It just means that autism isn't the reason.

So please do myself and all of the autistic people I know and any who agree with this statement a favour and leave autism out of the discussion.
