dos-like is a programming library/framework, kind of like a tiny game engine, for writing games and programs with a similar feel to MS-DOS productions from the early 90s. But rather than writing code that would run on a real DOS machine, dos-like is about making programs which run on modern platforms like Windows, Mac and Linux, but which attempts to recreate the look, feel, and sound of old DOS programs.

Interesting post about the strange state of data authentication and encryption in Linux distros... encrypting the OS and user data with the same secret doesn't make sense in a multiuser setting. Also asking for credentials from an initrd whose authenticity is not validated is problematic.

👋 I'm a hobbyist programmer and sysadmin who is passionate about #CooperativeTechnology, #smalltech, and other forms of user empowerment with technology. You may have seen me before.

I'm interested in #Gemini and other small internet protocols, along with mobile Linux, real sustainability, and various computer languages (including Rust and Zig).

I won't follow too many people here, or engage in politics, but I will share some updates on the things I'm working on.

Very interesting exploration of non-Git* solutions. I particularly liked his point warning of vendor lock-in.
