Is political clash still possible in the fediverse?

@dichotomiker Everything is possible.
@trinsec Not sure if people will try to put much enthusiasm into this e.g. if blockings of whole instances are possible.
@dichotomiker Sweet, isn't it? ;)
@trinsec Not if instances cluster by political view instead of e.g. geolocation. There's a #sociology paper about it, I cannot find right now.
@dichotomiker I think it's more the extremist instances with a more extremist world view that's getting clustered out of the main Fediverse. (Which they mostly already are)
I think that's sweet. :P
Since Qoto doesn't block anything, you might not notice it at all.
But thankfully users can block whole domains at their own... how's that for a 'power in the hands of the people' thing?
@trinsec If my neighbor radicalizes on one of those extremist instances, what is the power of the people doing then?
If many are already radicalized, how is the fediverse doing better than traditional platforms?
@dichotomiker Wait, you think the Fediverse can stop radicalization? Nah, we have servers like Gab, truth.social, and others that got defederated. They radicalize in their own islands and bubbles, the Fediverse won't stop them.
@trinsec No I think, fediverse isn't doing better.
@trinsec Maybe even worse because it dissects unintendedly: latent feed transfer between instances, incomplete threads, admin moderated (intransparent) blocklists, customized (censored) instance software, etc.
@Pat @trinsec Not done, I mean, go on you're free to block me.
Just today I had a discussion below some comment and there happened to be some race condition between instances. OP bet us to stop quoting him. However his intervention arrived 30 minutes late due to his overheated instance but OP received our discussion which continued quoting him. So he blocked us two debaters.
This may be a cuddly cat pic sharing space, but not the future of online debate. Now we're done.
@Pat @trinsec That's not the point. The point is that there's no guarantee not getting blocked entirely or at least for the opposition. Hence everybody remotely interested in "the other side" will keep calm.
