What is #Afropessimism ? What is #history ? What can history (not) do in service of black people given the insights of Afropessimism? If history fails to service black people, what should be done with history? This article argues that an unavoidable conclusion of Afropessimism is that history, a disciplinary mode of knowledge production, is tethered to the historical construct of the Human and thus is exploitative of the Slave/the Black, which is the negative image of the Human.

This article elaborates on the implications of this indictment of history, suggesting that invention of different ways of being becomes at least possible to imagine—to think about—when history is brought into relief, not as the form by which historians account for the past but rather as the evidence of who historians are and what they value in the world as it exists.
@freeschool
Truth offends westerners. There was no stereotype or personal bias, just historical fact. I could also enunciate it as "racial capitalism" but not everyone would know off the bat what I am pointing to.
Personally I see all of "Western Civilization" as one mono culture all about whiteness, money, power, control over others, submission of Nature to Ideal...
I do not care to blame all westerners but I have no positive expectations of solutions coming out of their institutions. There are interesting ideas and traditions there for sure, most forged in opposition to the dominant culture. But when talking about the problem I am too worried about what new hells their version of civilization will unleash onto the world to care to highlight what would be worth salvaging.
And yet the words I choose to use, point to what of the West I believe is worth salvaging or using, even if temporarily. Those words and concepts were coined within the anarchist, communist or antiauthoritarian movements of the west, or of elsewhere but influenced by the western movements.

Statement on “Join The Fedi” jointhefedi.com is a website owned by known “gender critical” activist Alex Gleason. The domain name and SEO is clearly designed to appeal to individuals curious about the fediverse, and potentially take traffic from joinmastodon.org. Unfortunately, Gleason does not have the best intentions when it comes to helping the fediverse grow. Gleason formerly contributed to other fediverse projects, before being removed from doing so due both his behavior and poor code quality. This is a problematic individual, recommending problematic services.
Join The Fedi has an explicitly right-wing agenda and seems to only promote instances which either a) run the “Soapbox” front-end software created by Gleason himself or b) advertise themselves as “free speech” instances. As of right now, the site actively recommends the following instances:
poa.st (blocked by Howlr for harassment)
Spinster.xyz (blocked by Howlr for transphobia)
Shitposter.club (blocked by Howlr for harassment)
Gleasonator.com (blocked by Howlr for transphobia)
Freespeechextremist.com (blocked by Howlr for hate speech)
In other words, Gleason is using the site to promote his own agenda rather than simply gain more users into the fediverse. This is not a site that should be recommended to new users. I would recommend using https://joinfediverse.wiki/ instead!
Thank you!

"llama infiltradas a las personas que han denunciado" a de estar en el manual. leo las mismas dinámicas, el mismo problema, aquí y allá.
"Mr Global" / the ruling class
Catherine Austin Fitts made the point that Mr Global makes decisions not out of greed but risk management. The risk they are most seeking to avoid is: the whole system that keeps them in power collapsing. As she described it, they profit out of the situations they put the world in, but greed is not what is shaping their decisions, but the fear of losing their control over humanity.
#micromachos
#rant #sexwork #anticapitalism
I just read a so called anticapitalist stance which made me angry. They consider sex work purely exploitative. It should be abolished. Also, "survivors" agree.
Those that talk about abolishing sex work brandish some sex worker testimonies (the survivors they invoke) like they were weapons. While religiously ignoring all the data and other testimonies that counter their points. It is not even necessary argue over data because all their logic is so trash.
The weird part, is that those that push for criminalizing sex work come from different contexts. There are christian right wingers and so called anti capitalists that agree that sex work clients should be persecuted. Some because it offend the family and God, others because they consider it unproductive and exploitative work.

To some of us that have been expecting the collapse of the US dollar for decades, this just feels like they are letting the accelerate process. I do not believe many US officials know that their currency's collapse is unavoidable, but I would bet more than a few do. Since they cannot avoid that economic mayhem forever, maybe they are trying to time it to their benefit.
@marathon0
I get why you see the sanctions as shooting themselves in the foot. Consider maybe they shot themselves for ulterior motives. My guess is that they did not even consider that the negative consequences would be so much, because Russia outmaneuvered them.
But what would they hope to get out? What is the ulterior motive?
They are getting NATO to prep up for a coming war. The war budgets worldwide have never been bigger. Arms deals for years to come.
I think that there is enough profit involved in moving to whole world's national economies to a war economies to justify any losses attributable to strengthening the Russians temporarily. That is who they serve, war profiteers not the American's interest.
@marathon0 I am not so sure the consequences were unintended.
But it sure does not look like peace is what they want. The choices seem to be only between types of war and when, but never peace.
@marathon0
The big IF here is if the west wants peace. I see no indication that is the case. Mostly because proxy wars are not just bad cases of refusing to consider other nations' demands.
This war's economic front has been raging for quite a while now, but so far all that has accomplished is getting some western leaders ousted while Putin is ever more popular among not just Russians. Moscow's interests are really secondary to the resolution of this ordeal. If the West really wants peace it needs to mind its own populations' interest.
