@mejs other thing the movie gets right is the normalisation of atrocities and violence. The life continues, just there is a war going on and people are dying. I had a friend from Sarajevo once tell me how great the parties were during the war. It just makes no sense, and any movie trying to pick it apart rationally would be doomed to failure.

@mejs I liked the movie. War is irrational, makes no sense. The difference between right and wrong, just and unjust is very blurry and often crossed by both sides. That's why I think that for the purpose of the movie it really doesn't matter who is on whose side, what are the motives. Only thing that is common is that everyone is trying to survive. That's why I didn't mind the story not having an explanation of the conflict.

@diningcar Croatian railways international timetable is worth crying over. In 2001. There were three trains to Budapest daily, with the fastest being just over 5 hours. Today there is only one taking more than 6

@mattsheffield didn't you watch Pulp Fiction? "It's legal but it's not 100% legal, they want you to smoke at your home or certain designated place"

@ai6yr you should check out city nerd on YouTube and The war on cars podcast (if you haven't already)

@TheWarOnCars while listening it hit me: how come so many people live car-free but I don’t know of anybody living bike-free.

@CindyS@masto.nu @davidho people drown but it doesn’t mean that water is bad for us.

@Chancerubbage @spacetelescope @AstroMigration I’m no expert but I think there is no “weight” there - similarly to zero g in space station- you’re basically in free fall around the Sun. As far as escape velocity goes- Lagrange point is like a top of the hill- if you put a ball there it can stay there, but any perturbation and it wil roll down the mountain. This is why the maneuvers are needed- there are many tiny perturbations from planets.

@Sh41 @lehtimaeki yeah, swimming is counterintuitive, especially for us beginners/amateurs - the harder you try the slower you go.

@kneworldodor @rlmcneary2 @danluu judging by the way the Teslas look musk fired all of the designers

@lehtimaeki even in real life I find that people that are active are more tolerable on average and it’s not a coincidence

This idea is based on a supposition that general public can learn from (other countries) experiences. Wishful thinking...

@lehtimaeki people are lazy and changing opinions takes effort...

@mejs yeah, here in EU things are not much better...

@mejs ova situacija podsjeća na Dobar Loš Zao kad Clint kaže - nećemo pobijediti i Bog nije na našoj strani jer Bog mrzi idiote...

@floooh @jakubtomsu Did you know that sokol means falcon in Croatian?:)
