Well over 2 thousand people have filled out this survey, studying the effects of Operating Systems on happiness.
Awesome. Some fantastic data here. I'm going to leave the survey open through the weekend, then publish the findings next week.

Reposting some old comments on UEFI, since I got riled up about it again:
UEFI is perhaps the single most egregious pile of garbage ever concieved by humans. I don't think it's possible to overstate how awful it truly is.
Here's how BIOS works: basically, the computer loads the first 512 bytes of disk into memory and jumps to it. The OS takes over from there and does whatever it needs to, like bootstrapping stage 2 and loading the kernel from the filesystem. The spec[0] is 46 pages long and you are granted the rights to reproduce, distribute, and implement it free of charge.
Want to know how UEFI works? The spec[1] is a 2,899 page PDF which you have to pay to use in any way, including writing an implementation.
Every copy of this specification should be found and burned. The ashes should be buried deep in a dark place and the earth above salted.

Oh man: LinuxMint really have it right with their planB LMDE distro just in case a certain other giant starts buying up that other important Linux distro... #IBMBuysRedHat
So finally got the more expensive fountain pen in made by TWSBI, All the others I showed before were knock offs, much cheaper, by wings. The knock offs were nice but the original certainly writes way better. Here are the two side by side, both using the same ink (OX Blood). Not only was the flow much more consistent from the TWSBI but the ink actually looks noticeably darker despite having the same stroke width. Both pens use Extra Fine Nibs. The TWSBI is the clear winner even at 5x the cost.
The difference in color was so significant I thought maybe I just didnt mix the ink before filling the cheaper pen. Nope, even after dumping the ink and refilling it with freshly mixed ink the color is exactly the same.
I can see that my multicolour LED lightbulb is making yellow light out of red and green if I look at it from just the right angle, can see the red and green outside the yellow. Magenta, cyan and yellow are kinda red, blue and yellow.....kinda #colours
