@Dan_Ramos this is what comes to mind any time anyone (Republican, Democrat, or other) says we need a lower class of people (currently they say undocumented migrants) to work jobs for less than what free citizens would work for.
@JesseStone here in #Denver, we've already had budget cuts for citizen services, like police, trash service, sidewalk repairs, so our taxes are reallocated to the homeless and newcomers, which naturally attracts more homeless and non legal migrants.
Our mayor is telling us to brace for more budget constraints as he stages a civil war against Trump.
Real question: if our city executive branch leadership says they can act in direct opposition of the laws that apply to them... And that their priority is to help those who are in violation of those laws... .is there any argument left that the citizens should have to obey the city laws that we have our own moral opposition to?
@gatewaypundit_official what a deceptive headline. Insert "MAGA" , as if Musk said it, purely for clickbait purposes.
Day 2 with Samsung #watch7 LTE - battery is at 92% after 4 hours. Way better than yesterday.
The difference? Yesterday I was trying to actually use the LTE functionality and today I have my phone with me. Is this effectively using the watch as if it's the cheaper Bluetooth-only device? Is the LTE functionality the thing that just kills the watch?
IF that proves to be the case, I'd recommend the watch for those who want it in addition to their smartphone. But my use case is I want to to ditch my smartphone most of the time. I'll stop carrying my phone after the next hour meeting and see if power plummets like yesterday.
Watch7 battery died before 8 hours in battery saver mode. Samsung wouldn't offer a replacement for the same price I paid last week, only a return.
I'm reading this is a fundamental design flaw that the newest #Samsung flagship #watch7 can't even last 8 hours, rather than mine having an abnormal issue.
If this repeats by this time tomorrow, I'm going to return this and try a refurbished Watch5 Pro which apparently has a double battery.
Brand new Samsung Watch7, in power saving mode is down to 30% batter before 6 hours of use. Not looking good here.
As far as future telling/mind reading about how they'd go about it, I'm no good at that stuff, so I've got to go off of actual words and actions, so until we see otherwise, I'll expect the new admin to focus on those with violent criminal history before anyone else.
It's troubling to me when anyone applies a stereotype to all immigrants. Those who are in violation of immigration laws aren't all poor starving mothers, nor are all violent gang members. And not all of us immigrants are here to violate even immigration laws.
Lots of us immigrants are law abiding residents, and naturalized citizens who share the concerns of natural born citizens. And maybe we appreciate what America is more, and want to both protect that and welcome others into it in ways that continue to build on the goodness that is here.
@madbarrister I hear you. Did you know there's already paths forward that don't include overstaying your visa?
As an immigrant myself I happen to know that's the case. So.. The good news is most of your plan is in place already. It was long and costly and painful but that was before 12 years of Obama/Biden /Harris, so maybe it's a lot easier now.
I agree with #3, that there should be penalties on employers who hire those not following the legal process.
I don't love the idea of creating an underclass of people to pick cotton or veggies or whatever. I didn't like it when W proposed it either.
@madbarrister both definitions seem to have merit. I thought I heard Vance say they'd start by going after the first category. As for the second category, what's your proposal if one overstays a visa?
@jonyoder @steele The only way we get information is through intermediaries. So... what did Trump do or think? What did Harris do or think?
It's all filtered down to us by the media... sometimes we have a choice of what we're exposed to, sometimes not.
I see things posted by both sides that make me pretty skeptical sometimes, and other times make it very clear how put too much trust in the intermediaries, confirmation bias, availability heuristic, etc.
@steele Been there! With enough kids, I learned that a 24 hour bug can affect us for a week... or weeks, with a day in between each person...By the time that one bug is over, here comes the next.
But it's how our immune systems grow, right?
Once we had pink eye spread around the house, not one person at a time, but one EYE at a time! I got it the day one of our kids was born and I was active in the delivery room... with lots of hand sanitizer and eyedrops.
The #Onion bought #Infowars. Hey @BabylonBee, #MSNBC is for sale.
@darulharb That... would be wild.
I have had a hard time seeing anything beyond actual scrum as being aligned with the original agile principles. Those principles are still how I tend to think... and thus be frustrated by any process that is ___ agile. The word proceeding agile always seems to mean "not" in implementation.
Shortly after I did scrum training many years ago and my small team began to outpace all other teams where I was, a new PMO was set up to turn every team into as efficient as mine. The result was that we also became slow with the process overhead and lost the advantage.
Maybe... maybe the principles can be applied regardless of framework, if not thwarted.
I'm interested in being just not civil, but excellent in interacting with others of different viewpoints in an online world where we can so viciously defend our echo chambers and be so dismissive of other perspectives.
