FOSS Terminology Change Survey

@jbauer

Votes "useless and silly" but as an European, I don't think this explains well my opinion.

I see this as

1. Highly hipocrital
2. Yet another form of American imperialism that strumentalize the pain and anger USA inflicted to its black communities to impose its own culture.

I think that this is a very bad behaviour.

Also with higher latitudes, the amount of daily darkness grows with bad effects on mind's health (and life in general, not only for humans).

FOSS Terminology Change Survey

@sjb @g Blacklist and whitelist don't have their origins in racial matters as far as I can tell. Their origins seem to be related to the religious concepts of "black" meaning something bad and "white" meaning something pure or holy. The earliest known uses are from the 17th century.

@matteoscordino @markosaric @imacrea It’s very much in Silicon Valley’s interests that you interpret it that way. When they spend millions to lobby the European Union for favourable conditions for startups (which put sustainable, non VC-backed small tech businesses at a disadvantage), the difference becomes very important.

How do we make ironic articles about the loss of privacy on websites that use spy trackers a thing of the past?

The duality of tech journals / online magazines / bloggers that advocate for #privacy yet are using #google #analytics, pervasive ad tracking (offline and online), etc. on their websites is an issue that may demand our attention.

What might help?

+ A code of conduct?
+ More vocal online protest?
+ Sharable “I won’t read your post because...” graphics?

Any ideas are welcome...

The Dutch ministry of justice paid for a #privacy test of Office 365, finding a series of issues. Just one of these: 6 different companies receive user data including file names, without even a privacy policy.

I have another one : the biggest French car maker, Renault, will use google ai to power his factories. Made by French engineers google vowed in our very own universities (they funded polytechnique's ai lab! Polytechnique is the best engineer school in the country).

@ekaitz_zarraga

I think it's in Italian.

I didn't read it, but knowing a little the man I'd guess he's a good writer. Anyway I'll wrote him your mail.

Hi @ekaitz_zarraga, how are you? How is it going in Spain with Covid19?

A friend is wondering about publishing a book he wrote and I thought about mobile.twitter.com/giacomotesi
